Wheatley Station circa 1910

  • Wheatley Station circa 1910
  • 1917 ticket from France to Wheatley
Archive Notes:

Photograph of Wheatley Station circa 1910. Edgar Phillips, who lived at Greystones in High Street, was the station master in 1911.

Also a scan of a railway ticket Jan Marlowe's grandfather, George, saved when he came home on leave to Holton during WW1. The nearest station was Wheatley so his ticket was made out for there. In fact Jan was told that, as he walked from Holton to Wheatley to start his leave, Mr Alderman from Park Hill stopped him and told him, 'George there is no time for leave you need to get back to France and stop those Germans!'
