Penny Cottage, 46 Church Road.

Edwin Charles Hawes and Florence Hawes lived in this four-room cottage (now seen from the car park but accessed from Church Road) in 1911 and 1921, then  with 4 children, (and later) and he was a baker who sold from his front room. The Kelly directories do not feature him however. In 1921, Edwin Charles had one son, Edwin Roy (born 1915), who eventually took over the business This has been confirmed by a visit in January 2023 of Lorraine, one of his grandchildren, who remembers their father, Edwin Roy, talking about this bakery business.
