View north from the paddock of Ambrose Farm 1955-1960 before housing developments in the 1960s. Map extracts based on a 1938 map and another showing the developments help locate this view. Note the pond indicated in the field on the OS.

The donor of the photo used to sit on the wall by the silver birch and watch the kingfishers flying over the pool and probably swallows too.  It can just be identified in the picture with the willows along the stream, absorbing the water. 

The building with the chimney (two semi-detached units) in the far background is on the south side of Church Road opposite the Kings Arms. One half is understood to have been occupied (and perhaps owned) by Winifred Leyshon.
