Maple Tree
Originally part of the national network of Children’s Centres, in 1974 its current building was part of the Youth Centre. The Maple Tree was saved from permanent closure by a group of committed and enthusiastic parents, supporters and the local community. It opened its doors again in August 2017 and is now funded entirely by donations, grants and a busy fundraising programme. Their building is in Littleworth Road.
Its charitable objectives are ‘To act as a resource for young children and their families living in Wheatley and Horspath (about 60%) and the surrounding villages enabling them to be resilient, strong and confident families through the provision of advice and assistance and organising programmes of physical, educational and other activities.’
In its year 2022-2023, it had an income of some £105,000 with outgoings of some £85,000.
