9 Kiln Lane

Archive Notes:

Kiln Brook Cottage, 9 Kiln Lane, is beileved to have been bujilt in 1860, before the terrace of numbers 1-7 Kiln Lane. It was an L-shaped house built of stone with, perhaps, the Kiln Lane frontage originally of brick, unless this was changed when the terrace was later built. An extension, squaring off the house at the rear, was added in the 1980s. The brook runs at a lower level just beyond the wall at the bottom of the garden.

Looking south-west, Brookside, 2 Blenheim Lane, can be seen from the garden and, looking north, the rear building of the Old House.

Mr & Mrs Joe Allen lived at 9 Kiln Lane in the early 1900s, and they were related to 'Milky' Allen & they also helped with the milk round.
