Ellen Gunn, 1880-1974, includes memories of village life.

Ellen Gunn was born in 1880 and died on 16th December 1974. She was buried in the same grave as Miss Julia Casemore.

Ellen Gunn was very intelligent and literate and enjoyed the company of people who could talk about general affairs and local government. She lived in All Souls' Cottage, (101 High Street) and she used to refer to her landlords (All Souls College) as “All Souls & Fisheries"!

Miss Gunn had a wonderful memory and her notes reflecting on Wheatley in her youth, are recorded here in detail.

She ius buried in the same grave as Julia Casemore, the inscription reads 'Loving Memory of Julia Casemore April 10th 1832 July 15th 1921 and they shall be mine saith the Lord of Hosts in that day when I make up my jewels. Ellen Gunn December 16th 1974. God is Love'
