Arthur Watts

Biography:

Research of the Censuses has not revealed an Arthur Watts, son of or otherwise related to an Arthur Watts with any Wheatley connection. An Arthur Alexander Watts, born in 1889 in Rangoon, Burma and boarding at Clarendon Cottage, Park Town, Oxford in 1911, is recorded as serving as a Lieutenant in the Royal West Kent Regiment in 1920, but there is no apparent link with the village. We speculate that he and his brother Frank, might have been former students billeted in Wheatley - the 1911 Census shows several Rhodes Scholars from the Empire lodging in the village.
