Biography:

Born in Littleworth in 1889, son of Thomas Johnson and Harriet. Brother of Thomas Johnson junior, and of Samuel Johnson who also served and lost his life. Walter attended the Congregational Chapel Sunday School in 1902. In 1911 he too was a carter on a farm, living with his parents. No record of his war service could readily be found. Walter H. Johnson married an Olive Rose Witney in December 1928. In the Church Register of his burial on 10 February 1958 Walter is referred to as Walter Henry, his address at the time having been Chequers Cottage, Crown Road.

Before the war, he was living at 5 Crown Square, also then known as Farm Close Lane.
