How to use the Genealogical resource

Before explaining how this works, most of the large families in the area have a write-up of the key information (gathered from elsewhere in the archive) 'wrapped around' the family trees. This write-up (found by a search of the family name) might be an easier way to become informed about this family.

You are now in the TNG propriety software programme and you can use the search button on the left of the long brown strip above this text to take you to a particular person. Links, where these exist, from the archive or WW1 men records will also take you into this programme to either the person at the top of the family tree or direct to their descendants family tree. This latter can also be accessed from the record of the person by selecting the 'descendants' tab in the Genealogy page menu. Another useful way to find people is to go through 'Find' on the right-hand side of the brown strip where there is a drop-down menu, then select surnames.

Where appropriate the Person details (but not the descendants report) in the Genealogy pages will show links, also at the bottom, to any related archive or ww1men records in the other parts of this site.

The family tree displayed from 'descendants' may be too large, so try 'compact' or 'text' which will give a descendants report with generations numbered and inset. This can be converted to a pdf by selecting this, choosing how many generations are required (you may have to scroll down the page to find the pdf generator) and then clicking on 'create chart'. You can then save this to your computer and print it from there.

Add your family tree

If you have a family tree with Wheatley links which is not included in our records, and you would like it added, please contact us at info@wheatleyarchive.org.uk, or come into the Archive when it is open.

We have already linked many Wheatley families together and you may find that your information can take your family tree back much further!
