VPA Wine Circle
VPA Wine Circle.
Tn 1972/3 the village produce association ran its own successful wine circle, held in the White Hart Clubroom. It was started by Dennis and Margaret Axford then Secretary and Treasurer of the V.P.A. and ably assisted by Mr George Quarm and Mrs Pat Hilsdon. (Dennis made the Logo!). It resulted in many more entries in the wine section of the Annual Show which was judged by Mr and Mrs Alf and Esme Wright of Thame.
Apart from wine and beer making demonstrations, we visited, by invitation, other local wine circles, for a social evening at Rot ley, (North Hinksey), a barn dance and barbecue with the Oxford Wine Circle at Radley? and a Wine Festival at the Pressed Steel . We also had our own wine and beer maker's 'shop' run by Mr Pete Weller of Cowley.
