Shotover House

Shotover House from the sale catalogue produced by the agents Farebrother, Clark & Lye before the auction at Garroway’s Coffee House, ‘change Alley in London in 1854. The estate comprised 900 acres and was said to be worth £1,450 p.a. The purchaser, George Gammie, added to the wings of the house before he was declared bankrupt in 1869. When the estate was sold again in 1871 it had grown to 985 acres and the rental was estimated at £2,378 p.a.
