38 High Street
38 High Street stood on a large plot, with remains of 3 cottages behind. This has late 17C origins and was thatched until 1978. Like other properties in the area it belonged to Frederick Fowler and was acquired by Mr & Mrs Bargus in the 1950s.
Listing details state 'House. Late C17/early C18. Limestone rubble with timber lintels; old plain-tile roof with brick gable stacks. 3-unit plan, extended. One storey plus attics. Front has 4-panel door to left of centre with 2-light casement to right and 3-light C18 casements in flanking bays; 3-light dormers to left and centre. House has been extended one bay to left at unknown date. Interior not inspected. Roof was formerly thatched'.
